A Bit Better

I know that I am not the only one who has this problem, but I sometimes have a hard time walking away from my phone. If it wasn't for trying to adopt again I'd totally ditch the smart phone. I have tried harder this past week to put my phone on the counter and just walk away. I need to be able to focus on S and not have all the distractions. She is so precious to me and I want to not miss these amazing moments! It's also been a week that I've been trying harder to focus on fitness. I have felt better and definitely felt the differences when I haven't done as well. I didn't have anything to drink before church today and by the third hour I was a bit light headed and opened S's water bottle to steal from :)

Our daily workout to be healthy :) She loves our runs and is motivating to me!

Trips to the park this week...multiple times :) She now asks for the swings instead of being scared of them :)

Seriously, this kid is the cutest!

Finger Painting...a first for us. She really enjoyed it.

More time on the swings :)

While Brett was off on Friday we took a trip up to Odgen to go to the temple open house. There is always such a great spirit there! S was great and kept pointing to pictures she saw saying, "Jesus". Which comes out more as "Zeezus". When we got to the tent about things in the temple afterward there was a very large Christus. Scarlett and I stood and talked about him. She looked at me, pointed to the statue, and said, "Jesus, hug!" and crossed her arms across her chest. It was the sweetest thing!

We decided to have some outside time and enjoy our beautiful weather before bed. S had been requesting bubbles, so that's what we did. She would hold the wand up to her eye and say "See you."

Our beautiful Saturday outside. S has a couple balls that she loves playing with outside. This one was a gift from grandpa. It has been worth more than he paid for it. She's gotten a lot of use out of it.

S was a great helper while we were canning on Saturday. Here are the pickles we were getting ready to process :) We got TONS done yesterday. Pickles, green beans, nectarine jam, and raspberry jam...all produce coming from our backyard. It is such a great feeling that we have been able to produce so much on our own!

Our finished product. We did get more beans than that, but I had already put some of them away before I took a picture of everything :)

Firsts

This week we had fun doing several firsts together. We went up to help my grandparents with some things they needed while grandma is still undergoing rehab from her fall. Scarlett enjoyed playing with an old Fisher Price castle that my aunt used to play with.

We took some time to help make dinner for a friend. Scarlett was a great helper at rolling out the french bread. She kept calling the risen bread bubbles. She was so excited to help!

The weather this week was more fall like than I expected...which was quite pleasant. Consequently we were able to enjoy a lot of time outside. I loved taking her to the park. We saw some friends there and even though they were much older than her they were so great to play with her.

I had a super fun lunch date with a friend I've had for years. We had to drive an hour each way to see that friend. It was totally worth it, and had been way to long. By this point it was around 1 and Scarlett looked like this within 5 minutes of being in the car on the way home.

We have had a lot of rain this week. Scarlett loved watching it as well as as playing in it.

This cutie just wanted lots of snuggles this week too. I was completely happy to oblige. She is growing up way to fast. We sure hope that she will get a sibling while she is small enough that they enjoy playing together.

Lately

I freely admit that sometimes the only way I can remember what I did during the week is to look back at photos I took. This week is definitely no exception to that.

On Monday we had a friend invite us to go swimming with them in the afternoon. I'm pretty sure anything swimming is Scarlett's idea of heaven. She LOVES the water! We didn't finish up until after 4:30 and I was beat. My sister told me that Firehouse Subs does free kids meals on Monday night so we had a date :) I couldn't resist taking a picture of this cutie.

One day this week we just played with trains for a while. When she decided she was done she started singing the clean-up song as she put pieces back in the box. Thanks to some great nursery teachers she loves helping clean up :)

She has started doing one of the cutest things. She "pretend sleeps" at any moment during the day. I was sitting on the couch when she crawled up, snuggled in, and started snoring. I have no idea where she got it from. She really hasn't seen us sleep, and doesn't watch TV...thus, the mystery.

Monday through Thursday this week we went for jogs. Some mornings were earlier than others...depending on when she woke. There were several mornings that we saw some beautiful sunrises, but this was the only one I took out my camera to catch.

I have been sewing maxi skirts like crazy to raise money for our next adoption. We had several that we needed to drop off close to my mom's school so we made the most of it. We had lunch with grandma and hung out in her classroom for a little while. I love how happy this kid is!

We had a really long day and had to pick up a package for dad from FedEx because they had to many attempts at our house. Sonic was right next to them and it was happy hour. I couldn't pass it up...but I know I didn't want to share so I got her her own. She was in heaven as I did a quick trip through Costco.

We took some time in the late aternoon and just played outside with sidewalk chalk and bubbles. Brett was successful a few times in getting her to blow bubbles on her own :)

This had to be one of my favorite moments of the week. Brett and I had picked raspberries earlier in the day. By the evening there were more that had ripened. Scarlett was outside with us, pointed at them, and pretty clearly said raspberry followed by please. She continued pointing to each of the ripe berries she could find and asking please. She is the absolute best!

Treehouse Museum

This week we started the week off with a trip to the Treehouse Museum for our grandma day/outing. They have so many fun things to do there. We spent 2 1/2 hours there and still didn't come close to seeing all of it. I took my sister's two boys since she works and I didn't want them to miss out. They all had a great time together.

Playing trains with her cousin.

She  loves dressing up.

All of the cousins (who came) in costumes.

Playing in the kitchen.

She loved riding this horse.

We went up to spend time with the family in Brigham after, and I had my sister do my hair. It's super nice having a beautician in the family. While we did that the kids all played together inside and out. S had a great time with her cousins!!

I don't do selfies, but wanted to send a picture to Brett while he was gone. I love the cut :)

At the end of our exercising one day we stopped at the park. S loved to play on the different toys, but mostly just loved being outside.

Sorry for this horribly blurry picture, but she discovered that she could walk in dad's sandals. This was the best I could get. She thought it was pretty great!

We all had a little outing together later in the afternoon. She thought it was pretty great that she could push the shopping cart all by herself.

My brother had someone bail on him last minute who was suppose to double date with him. We got to go instead. It was at The Desert Star theater. They do spoofs on all plays they put on. We saw "Calamity Jane: Cowgirls Just Want to Have Fun". It was a really fun show with some of the best laughs we've had in ages!
